Strains, sprains & joints
Treat light strains and sprains at home with elasticated support bandages.
Strains and sprains can happen to anyone at anytime; they can be caused by rigorous exercise, taking a tumble or any activity where you’ve overexerted yourself.
A muscle strain occurs when the muscle has been stretched beyond its limits whereas a sprain is an injury to a ligament and can also be easily damaged if overstretched.
Symptoms of a strain or sprain include pain in the affected area, swelling and bruising and loss of movement in the body part and can be confirmed by your GP.
Light support of the affected area using Comfigrip elasticated tubular bandages can provide support when needed, allowing you to carry on with life as normal while the strain or sprain heals.
Most strains or sprains can be treated at home with rest, light compression using Comfigrip, ice to reduce the inflammation and keeping the limb elevated.
If the pain is severe, or if the injury is not improving or getting worse, visit your GP who may recommend an x-ray to check for fractures.
